Dianne Sharp
Dr Sharp graduated from Otago Medical School, trained in ophthalmology in Auckland and completed a two year Medical Retina fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in Ophthalmology and Electrophysiology
She is currently based at Retina Specialists, Parnell and Ophthalmology Department, Greenlane Clinical Centre in Auckland. She has worked with the most current and effective medical therapies introducing photodynamic therapy in 1999 for age-related macular degeneration, and intravitreal Avastin and Lucentis since it became available in 2006. She was the principal investigator in 3 recent international trials for the treatment and management of a vision threatening complication of diabetes and is co-author of a number of scientific publications.
In 2009 she became the inaugural chairman of Macular Degeneration NZ, a charitable trust established to reduce the incidence and impact of macular degeneration in NZ.
